As part of its effort to strengthen relationship with the Directorate of National Youth Service Corps, NYSC in the state, the Polytechnic is to increase the number of absorption of corps members posted to the state.

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Professor Bobboi Umar disclosed this in his office, July 1st, 2016 when the NYSC State Coordinator, paid him a courtesy visit.

Acknowledging the foresight of Nigeria’s past leaders for establishing the scheme, Professor Bobboi Umar promised that his institution will do everything possible to keep the spirit of the founders alive.

The Rector noted that, he has been a beneficiary of the scheme in the past and therefore will not jeopardize its progress.

Pointing out that the Polytechnic with three campuses located in Yola, Jambutu and in Numan is most sought for by the corps members because of its location in the city.

He said that, the Polytechnic had in the past years absorbed a good number of corps members but had to reduce the number due to challenges in accommodation.

While assuring the co-ordinator of his plans to redress the situation, the Rector directed the Registrar of the Polytechnic to liaise with the Directorate for a workable solution.

Earlier in his speech, the State NYSC co-ordinator, Umaru Daniel who paid the courtesy visit along with his Management team said that they have visited the Polytechnic to plead for the acceptance of corps members posted to serve in the Polytechnic.

Umaru Daniel pointed out that the Directorate had in the past enjoyed patronage from the institution but observed that the patronage was going down which necessitated the visit.

He therefore solicited for the strengthening of the existing cooperation between the two organisations.

The visitors were later presented with copies of the Polytechnic’s publications.
