POLYTECHNIC MANAGEMENT TO SUPPORT ADAPOLY VENTURES PERFORM BETTER

ADAPOLY Ventures Limited a unit established in 2016 to undertake commercial ventures for the Polytechnic has been assured of adequate support to enable it surmount some its fledgling problems.

 

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Professor Bobboi Umar gave the assurance after a tour of seven commercial outfits being run by the unit.

 

Professor Bobboi Umar averred that the Polytechnic has invested Millions of Naira to set up the Ventures especially the Sachet Water factory located at the Jambutu in order to supplement the revenue base of the Polytechnic.

 

While stressing the desire of the Management to fully equip all established ventures, the Rector maintained that the Management is not totally unmindful of the teething problems being faced in terms of manpower and equipment.

 

He said the Polytechnic is aiming at the making the Unit financially sufficient to even lend its money and therefore will do everything possible to sustain the unit.

 

The Director ADAPOLY Ventures Limited, Mallam Umar Saidu had earlier conducted the Rector, his Deputy, Dr Stevenson S Manabete, the Registrar, Hajiya Mariya Adamu Nyako and some members of the Polytechnic Management round seven commercial ventures of the unit.

 

At the sachet water factory at the Jambutu campus, the Director told the entourage that the factory which is NAFDAC certified started full operation in January this year has so far produced over 2Million sachets which is in high market demand, he added.

 

The next port of call was the Car wash sited at the western gate of the Polytechnic where the Director said a minimum of 15 – 20 vehicles are daily attended to but lamented that the car wash is on a quit notice from government.

 

The Block industry which started in November, 2016, was formerly with the Engineering department but has to be transferred to ADAPOLY ventures for maximum utility. According to Umar Saidu, the Block industry has produced from inception 11,632 blocks of both 6’’ and 9’’ which were sold to the public.

 

Other ventures of the Unit include; the Fish pond which the Director said started with a stock of five thousand fingerlings on 28th August, 2017 and so far expended 32 bags of feeds to keep the fish in good health and minimal losses.

 

Similarly, a vegetable garden is located beside the fish pond using the drained water from the pond proven to be rich in nutrients from the fish waste to water the garden. In this garden are also a number of assorted economic trees looking lash and green.

 

 

Another outfit of the commercial ventures of this unit, is the printing press which the Director pointed out that upon its transfer to ADAPOLY ventures has grown from mere photocopying to printing of Text books, Magazines, Reports and Polytechnic Rules and Regulations etc.

 

This, according to Mallam Umar Saidu is in addition to Digital Colour Separation and blocking work with the state-of-the-art equipment.

 

For Event Management, the Director displayed to the Rector and his entourage canopies and chairs including Public Address System which is available on hire bases by the general public.

 

Reeling out his plans for future expansion, the Director said, although the Unit is facing financial and Manpower challenges, he expressed optimism in the Professor Bobboi Umar-led management to squarely address most of them.

 

He said Ventures future plans include; a Bookshop, Cattle Fattening, Grains Buying and Selling and Staff canteen.
